Technology
Course Description
Eighth
grade students will have technology classes in the laptop lab twice a week.
Eighth grade technology is designed to teach students to utilize technology as
a tool to support the curriculum and individual learning needs. Students will
learn to use technology skills for study, work, and community participation in
an ethical manner.
Course Objectives

• Learn to effectively search the
internet for information
• Continue to develop Word
Processing skills (Microsoft Word)
• Continue to develop keyboarding
skills
• Continue to develop Powerpoint
skills
• Continue to develop spreadsheet
skills (Excel)
• Create music soundtracks for
various themes with Garage Band
• Learn about multimedia movie
creation using iMovie
• Help to write, produce, and
edit their own movie project
• Learn BASIC computer
programming
• Create an animated GIF from a
series of original drawings
• Learn about journalism with
publication of St. Matthew’s Yearbook
• Learn to navigate the internet
• Use correct
vocabulary/terminology
• Learn ethical behavior on the
internet
• Understand the dangers of the
internet and develop skills/knowledge to keep themselves safe
