Course Description

The 6th grade religion class is intended to give students an deeper understanding of three
important elements of Catholic belief : Doctrine, Scripture and the Liturgical seasons.
They will recognize that what we believe, how we worship,how we live, and how we
pray make a difference in our lives.

Course Objectives

determine Sacred Scripture as the root of their Catholic Faith
identify the seasons of the Liturgical Year
explain God's Plan of Salvation
identify Jesus as the Messiah foretold in Hebrew Scriptures
identify special laws of God and of the Church by which we live and act
express their belief and understanding of Catholic morality and moral decision making
apply the messages in the Commandments to contemporary, social, family and world issues
develop and use the 5 different forms of prayer
understand and explain Mary's role in the Church and in our lives
determine ways to apply a stewardship lifestyle as gleaned from Scripture
