Course Description

The object of this course is to teach the students of the Contemporary Regions of the Western Hemisphere. The students will be learning about contemporary regions by studying the world through four major topics: History, Politics, Geography, and Economics. A variety of activities and assignments will be used, as well as individual and group projects designed to assess the studentsÕ understanding of the major concepts.

The students will be learning about the history, politics, geography and economics of the Western Hemisphere through the study of the following units:

Physical Geography of the U.S. and Canada

Exploration and Early North American History

Latin American History

Physical Geography of Mexico and Central America

Human Geography of Mexico and Central America

Physical Geography of the Caribbean

Human Geography of the Caribbean

Physical Geography of South America

Human Geography of South Central America

Basic Economic Concepts
