Course Description

Second grade students through the inquiry process, will demonstrate the ability to design, conduct, evaluate, and communicate results and reasonable conclusions of scientific investigations. It is a program designed to develop age-appropriate knowledge and understanding of the life, earth, and physical sciences.

Course Objectives

Second grade students will:

• Learn how scientists work and science safety
• Use appropriate equipment and technology to observe, investigate, and record measurements and data
• Explore and study how living things grow and change
• Explore the earth’s surface and earth’s weather and seasons
• Identify simple tools
• Learn about Montana American Indians and the use of natural resources and their explanations of the natural world
• Explore matter
• Use scientific vocabulary appropriately
