Course Description

The Second Grade Reading program teaches critical reading strategies that aide fluency and comprehension.

Course Objectives

Second grade students will:

• Distinguish between fantasy and realism
• Compare and contrast
• Predict outcomes
• Recognize story structure
• Recognize main idea, topic and supporting details
• Follow directions: oral and written
• Recognize fact and opinion
• Predict/Infer, summarize and evaluate
• Read fluently at appropriate rates
• Monitor and clarify to help comprehend what they read
