Amy Ponich Zoltek
Music K-8
Amy Ponich Zoltek has led a music-centered life since childhood. She is a native of Billings, attended school in southern California and then returned to Montana, settling in the Flathead. As a child, she spent wonderful summers in the Flathead when her parents, also teachers, had worked as leading players in the Bigfork Summer Playhouse. This experience led her to return here as an adult to raise and homeschool her four children, now adults presently living in Seattle and focusing on music themselves (information on their band can be found at www.youthrescuemission.com).
Mrs. Zoltek has been a teacher and director in many private and public schools, churches and community groups for over 30 years. Locally, Mrs. Zoltek has taught music, and coached high school speech and drama in the Bigfork schools, Trinity Lutheran, Stillwater Christian, North Valley Music School, and also privately. She has directed and performed in many local theater companies and schools. Her varied experience includes non-profit work with numerous organizations, especially those for youth, such as Boys and Girls Club, Violence Free Crisis Line, Flathead Care and several group homes and hospitals.
As a cellist, she has been a member of The Glacier Symphony for 20 years. She shares her love of music with her husband, GSC’s Maestro John Zoltek. In her spare time (!), she also sings with his jazz group “Liquid Jazz.”
Mrs. Zoltek writes: “I am thoroughly happy to be here and sharing my love of music at St. Matt’s!”
