Meet Mrs. Leslie Windauer
Preschool Teacher and Administrator
Mrs. Windauer began teaching preschool at St. Matt’s in fall 1995, and the year prior to that she was the Religious Education Director for grades 1-6. She received her Bachelor’s degree from MSU and is currently completing a Master’s in Counseling at MSU Northern. She has also taught in Belgrade and Billings. In addition to being a teacher, Mrs. Windauer has also had interesting engineering jobs working with rocket programs, the Tomahawk Cruise Missile program and the Space Shuttle program. She has even helped launch a weather satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base.
An avid outdoorsperson, Mrs. Windauer loves hiking, whitewater canoeing, rafting, kayaking, telemark skiing, and, thanks to encouragement from her own children, now grown, she has tried a few more adventurous activities such as cliff and ice climbing, and biking the challenging Slickrock bike trail in Moab, Utah. But her family remains the focus of her free time.
Her job is another adventure, as she feels she has the “funnest” job in the world, getting to work with the refreshing and innovative preschoolers at St. Matt’s. ”The best part of my day is being the recipient of those morning smiles as we embark on the day’s adventure.” Believing these first formative years are what can shape a person’s life perspective, Mrs. Windauer views her students as a precious treasure. ”I am honored to be given the chance to help instill a love for learning, a zest for life and the confidence to try.”
