Meet Mrs. Sydney Schroeder

5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade English
7th grade Religion
7th grade Homeroom

Mrs. Schroeder has been teaching at St. Matt’s since 1996.  She has taught kindergarten, first grade (for 11 years), second grade, upper grades Social Studies and now upper grades English and Religion.  She earned a B.S. in K-8 Education with a Minor in Reading from Montana State University-Northern.

She has a wonderful husband and two boys who keep her running constantly.  They love to go hiking and camping in the summer.  Having taught first grade for many years, it should be no surprise to learn that her favorite book is The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles.  ”It is a well-known fact. Any one of my students can tell you what my favorite book is.”  It has brought Mrs. Schroeder such joy, and to pass that joy on to hundreds of kids through the story in that book is especially gratifying.

What she likes most about St. Matthew’s is the fact that she has so many friends here. And the best part of Mrs. Schroeder’s day at St. Matt’s is the morning, “when everyone has a smile and a fresh face.”  In fact one of the reasons she loves being a teacher is that she likes to laugh with the kids and see those smiling faces every morning.  ”Teaching is never boring. Something new happens everyday, there are always surprises.”
